Palliser Estate is a boutique Martinborough vineyard with an international outlook. For over two decades our people have been carefully looking after our corner of New Zealand, producing quality Martinborough wine for the world to enjoy.

The history of Palliser Estate winery goes back decades. Palliser’s first grapes were harvested in 1989. Today, the vineyard has spread across 92 hectares that produces predominantly Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling.

Since that very first vintage our wines have been winning praise from international wine judges, media and customers. Richard Riddiford, our founding Managing Director, had driven innovative international marketing initiatives like the Family of Twelve, and as a result, Palliser is now found in some of the best restaurants, hotels and airlines around the world.

Despite this expansion the core Palliser philosophy remains the same as it was when the first vines went into the ground. It’s about hard work. It’s about employing the best people. And it’s about making sure the vineyard and our business are sustainable.

After 20 years, there’s a story or two to tell about Palliser. Like the day Sir Edmund Hillary turned up at the door. Or why welcoming visitors can involve gunpowder. More….

Palliser Estate have been distributed by Negociants NZ since 2002 and Clive and Richard have established a friendly and mutual respect for each other. Clive was honoured when one of Palliser’s Great Dog series of wines, the 2008 vintage was named after his golden Labrador Retriever, Walter Weston “The Great Walter”.
