Highlights were many, but a few worth mentioning were the time spent in the Yalumba cellars amongst their Riesling and Shiraz wines from the forties and fifties, along with the dinners in their underground tank rooms. The chance to see how wine used to be made, and still is at Rockford. A visit to the oldest producing Shiraz vines in the world at Langmeil, followed by a one-on-one lunch with the legendary winemaker John Duval, who’s own label is now considered one of the Barossa’s finest. Finishing a day’s tasting at The Hill of Grace vineyard with Henschke is not a bad way to finish a day either!
